Basically I have a mild query about the gearbox I have supposedly bought. Recently mine started whining, and then I lost reverse. It's a 1.4L CVH mk5(cabriolet), luckily(or maybe not due to ratios?) I had gotten a re-conditioned 1.8 diesel box off ebay for like £130 with delivery.

The problem? The box arrived, two weeks later my brother/mechanic get the current box out and find the new one lacks a four bolt/square mounting point, I contact the sellers who tell me they sent a mk4 box instead of a mk5 box. It's now been replaced, but the new box(which arrived today) seems to have all the mounting points but...it has other bits on it too! A couple differently placed bolts, but also some sort of electrical plug thing towards the back, and something on the top I haven't fully checked out yet(lighting is crap in my house and it's obv now late).

Basically, I'm wondering if maybe these guys sent a mk6 box instead of a mk5 box as it has these extras, or is it something else I can't tell? I'm pretty newbie when it comes to all this stuff. The most important point is, if I move all the bolts and bits around to match the old box, will it still work fine? (can't see why it wouldn't?)
