As for 2nd "red" lever

Forward = 50/50 4WD with the centre diff locked (bit like a discovery when off road) so all wheels turn.

Backwards = All RWD - Not funny !

Middle (and where 99% of them stay) is a 70% / 30% (ish I cannot remember the exact split) 4wd with the centre diff open.

Some were sold with the red lever in place, some had the lever removed and the gearbox locked into 70/30.

FORD intended the lever only to remain for "rally" sales but seeing as that stopped as it started they had to sell to the general public, most buyers wanted and asked to make sure that 2nd red lever was there when they collected it - so a LOT have them
