you have to slide outer column up and off the inner column,its the only way as you have to slide bearings over and back down .
when you re-assemble,theres a plastic tag on the upper bearing that locates in a slot.
hold it in place whilst you gently tighten steering wheel lock nut.
be carefull and make sure its alligned.
