Default Fiesta boot won't open.

I have a MK IV 1997 Fiesta 1.25 Ghia
The boot in my Fiesta won't open from the outside with the key, I don't think it's the lock its self that's broken as the key turns but won't turn with the wrong key I think whatever is broken, is the bit between the lock and the latch, anybody know what this is called and is it a job I can do myself?

Also one of the electrical contacts to the boot on the car has burned out and one of the pins on the boot side is shorter than the rest and so the heated rear screen doesn't work, (the automatic boot open switch has never worked as long as I've had it) I have seen both parts for sale and again I was wondering if these are fairly straight forward to replace myself?

I have had a lot of work done to the car recently and I'm about to replace the Cambelt as well as making up for the neglect I have given it for the last 3 years.
