hello people, can anyone tell me if a 4x4 gear linkage can be adjusted in anyway??

my car selects 1st 3rd & 5th fine but 2nd & 4th are alittle tricky to get, if u pull it in hard it selects fine its just asif the linkage is set to far back not allowiing the bottom gears to be selected as it should????
car drives fine apprt from this & no whines/crunches & doesnt cause any concern just more of a pain then anything
stick does feel abit sloppy

any info would be great
