Trying to work out why my ping is in the 80's mark on the speedtest site and when i do a ping test its appearing in mid 20's?

Is there any way i can get the ping on the speedtest to be lower? Asked elsewhere and most have said 88 is pretty high. I turned the firewall off on the router as i had 80% packet loss before and now i have 0% which is good. Just need to know how to sort out this port business for bc2 and lotro and where to obtain all the numbers and bits and bobs to enter in for it.
