depending on motherboard,you should be able to adjust settings to a preset one...my motherboard has 'normal' 'optimal' 'performance' and aggressive' ....also you should update the bios to the latest one as i remember reading that some amd cpu's dont show the correct speed......my athlon 3000+ runs at the normal 2177 mhz but showed 1700 until i updated bios
