That means if I want any more keys made I have to go to Ford who want to drain me of £100+ for a spare. I can get it done for about £70-£80 but I can't find anywhere to get the key cut and ford will only cut a key if I buy it from them.
I want to get an aftermarket alarm/imob as it brings my insurance down by around £100 And It would be nice to have an alarm and abit more piece of mind.
Is there any way to deactivate the standard immob?
I was thinking of putting the chip in the spare key and gluing the spare key somewhere up near the reader but afraid it might get lost etc.
I'd rather do it properly and get the whole thing deactivated.

I know with my 406 I simply unplugged the ECU while it was running which left it unlocked. I then simply unplugged the reader and plugged the ECU back in and no immob. But I feel the Focus won't be this easy

Nope PATS isn't easy to disable, programming a key is something that is DIY for these, so long as you already have a working key (Which you do) if you want the procedure let me know but you will find it in your handbook.

It basically involves turning the ignition key on and off around 6 times IIRC this then initiates "Learning Mode" at which point you put your new key it for it to be paired. The remote key programming is different.

So you just need someone to cut you a key.

Do you know if you would get a discount by having the optional Ford alarm fitted?
