Brake master cylinder leaking Ford Recalls
Hi all.
I would like some advice about a brake master cylinder.
I have a Ford Maverick XLT 2.0L, Year 2001 Model. It's covered by the Haynes manual for a Mazda Tribute (not the one that looks like a Nissan Terrano)
Also in the States they call it a Ford Escape.
If I search the net I find that Ford USA and Mazda have recalled these vehicles in their thousands, of models around the same year as mine. I cannot however find any recalls for my vehicle in England relating to the master cylinder leaking.
I can find only one reference for recalls for my model via the AA and that's for the stop light switch.
Anyone have any ideas about how to prove that my vehicle could also be subject to recall by Fords for the leaking cylinder as I feel the seal failure is premature let alone unsafe.
To make matters worse Fords want £379 inc vat just to buy the cylinder over the counter or just over £5 for the seal that they can't get for me for FOUR WEEKS !!!
Any pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. The vehicle is off the road as the brakes won't respond properly and I had a near miss two days ago. Luckily only doing 20 MPH.
