You get used to it.
I've got too many gears though with 6, only need 2 or 3 of them.

I'm getting an average of 34 on local / meduim runs and 40 on a long continuous run.

It'll fly all the way to 68 and then just won't go any faster, it doesn't tail off towards 68.

It even has a nice arrow that lights up to tell you when to change up gear for economy...
