5) You need a decent breather system depending on what state of tune the engines in! On the standard car it comes from the kidney box (Inlet side) and goes back to the airbox.

Yes if the engine has not been run for a while the lifters can be a little noisy, this should settle down after a while, if not you may need a set of lifters, INA are the ones to go for.

you've been a great help, thanks matey, when we got the car back it did run ok, then we had the instant over spill of oil in the luco catch tank, since then it's been tappy!

i guess the escort rad and saph wiring will explain the fan prob!
