Rust, rust and did I say, rust?

Apart from that, make sure the engine is cold before you start it, make sure it starts properly without too much smoke. Very little else really, check for cambelt change etc, very little goes wrong with these engines!

A mate's dad covered 400,000 miles in his before the gearbox went and it pretty much fell to bits underneath. Engine was still tight as a drum though!
