Yes it's true, best thing you can do is put the standard box on and if wanting to "Change" fit a uprated panel filter from the likes of K&N.

The cones can cause running problems and on these cars they suffer from heat soak so are actually worse than the OE design. Only thing you end up with is a lot of noise!
