Sounds like you've just got an air lock in the coolant system, run with the cap off the header from cold, squeeze the top rad hose till you can feel water is definitely in there. Tighten cap up, run up to temp and let the fan cut in. Leave to cool right down and repeat to be sure, should be sorted then
