Default question about fitting a car cover to a wet car

ive got a cover on my convertable 5 in my back garden and it has died over winter.
it has a huge tear in it right across the roof and was like it before the snow, so the car is now all wet inside from the damp/condensation.

now i want to recover it again but am unsure when is best? i will be putting a tarpaulin (non breathable) over the exisiting cover (breathable but fucked lol),
i cant dry the car out at all, will it do any harm if i cover it now while its damp inside still?
the car wont be moved for months so wont dry itself out

should i cover it or leave it?
