I'd go for stone chip myself as it's pretty robust and will require hardly any prep compared to any other method.will look neat in black and as long as you don't go silly with the coats,it'll give an even finish too.it will take longer to dry than rattle cans but will be a lot tougher.

You can get the stoneguard for £3.50 a can and the guns about £10.
