Not really arsey at all, you did not explain any reasoning and when you were writing off so many options i thought it would be more useful if you explained why. Which you have done now and stating your an actual VAG technician there is (hopefully) some good advice.

And no i completely agree that a £1500 pd engine is likely to have more miles than the sun and be run down hence being at that price and not worth a £400 risk.

That is what i was trying to say, only late 110 engines are PD but all 115, 130 and 150 are.
