Ignore the other guy. Road tax on these older cars is based purely on engine size. Up to 1549cc or over. Emissions based excise charging is only for vehicles registered after September 2001. Anything built prior to January 1st 1973 qualifies for free road tax too!

Any older car will have issues unheard of on modern cars. Corrosion is the biggie, then parts availability is another. Rarity/fashion value also puts unwarranted costs into the pot.
