Due to the urgency I would have thought that this would be the quickest and cheapest route, lot less expense than having to call out a locksmith. Garage locks can't be that expensive, can they?

Apart from that, trying to find something small enough and robust enough to get into the lock itself might be a struggle. Hope the lock hasn't frozen...
