TBH I didnt expect it to, I always imagined a minimum of pistons and rods being needed but a couple of people suggested otherwise so it's an option I'll look into some more.
What has happened to the engines of these people you have seen try it, what has failed?
Melted pistons, head gaskets, burnt valves and setting on fire
Usually fueling issues or gasket issues Its also hard to sort the plumbing as you need an intercooler IMO whatever boost you're gonna run
