Ive got 6 of these bad boys, they work fine as long as you lube them with a little bit of WD40, overwise they are a total pain in the arse!!!
The trouble with WD40 is the solvent in it tends to wash out any grease and then the oil attracts dirt which wears the mechanism. Try using a dry ptfe spray, this lubes without attracting dirt. My aerocatches have been perfect since being lubed with ptfe, i had the same problem as most have of the catches locking/jamming up.
