british gas are ther biggest rip off merchants ever. when i moved in my house just over 2 years ago i signed up to there service and maintenance for £13 per month. The bloke came round to service it and told the missis that it was spilling carbon monoxide and it could kill us so he capped it off. Then they tried to sell us a new boiler and sysetm ect. In the mean time i phoned a plumber friend and spoke to him about it. He said over the phone that the boiler is fine and they do it all the time. He cam round re connceted it and done a full service and ther wasnt a trace of monoxide at all he showed me the co meter with the probe right next to the offending flue it read zero. I phoned and complained but there just full of shit, with every excuse under the sun not to accept that there out there ripping people off. Just think how many people buy there bullshit storys.
Used to get this from swalec all the time regarding wiring until I explained to they guy I was a fully qualified spark.
They got quite aggressive to my mother,continually sending her letters that her system was dangerous and she could die in an electrical fire.the guy came to her door one day demanding he look at her electrical system as others reported to him it was unsafe.
Luckily the old girls clued up and said she was phoning swalec to check this was correct when he made his excuses and left,quickly.
He went in next door and tried to turn their electric off saying their consumer unit was not to bs,luckily for her she'd recently had a loft conversion done that had resulted in a new circuit being fitted,lighting etc so the whole system had been tested and certified.
Makes you think how many they'd caught as the old girl lived in a nice area where there were lots of oldies.
