Default Considering a Focus RS (mk1) - Advice?

Hi guys,

I've had a snoop around RSOC and this forum and have picked up a lot of information - I've also read the Evo buyers guide which seemed to indicate that the cars are reliable in general but parts can be very expensive. Is this basically the sum of users' experiences on here as well?

Anyway, I've got a Civic Type R (EK9) and was looking to move to a 350Z but the FRS has caught my eye as it may be more manageable in the poorer weather (Scotland = rain), will hold its value better and I'm a fan of the rarity factor. Unfortunately it's FWD as was hoping to go to RWD/AWD next but exceptions can be made.

I'm a bit stuck on what sort of FRS to look for, two extremes below:

Higher mileage than I wanted (I want to minimise depreciation but still do about 5k a year in it, looking to keep the car for 1-2 years) but FSH and looks well cared for. Price seems a bit high (what do you guys think):

Then there is this, better mileage and good price but looks a bit rougher. Has modifications I'd want to undo and only has SH to 50k then it has been services off the books once - so no formal history of the prior 15k.

Aiming to use the car, as above, for about 5k a year. Want to keep it in excellent condition and am not afraid of getting my hands dirty to get it to standard but don't want to buy a complete dog. Nor do I want to pay over the odds?

Any advice would be amazing guys!
