Tony Turbo's engine was built to take 400bhp and hasn't done alot of real work.
Why the obsession with CP pistons and Arrow rods? Tony's has Ross Racing pistons that were custom-made as one of three batches I had done, one of which went into my own engine, that I'm sure you know of. This engine has Farndon Rods too, which are the ones to use, if cost isn't a concern, they are £750 a set.
Believe me, there are physical limitations in the design of the CVH engine that will been seen long before the strength of components like Pistons/Rods is a worry. Good quality H-Section Rods will go beyond 500bhp and there is no limitation to a decent quality forged Piston.
Buy a proven low mileage engine like Tony's, this way you'll halve the cost of having such an engine built and end up with an engine that has been proven, but with low mileage.
My old engine actually still sits on an engine stand, freshly rebuilt and I'm sure the lad that bought it could be coaxed into selling it also.
