Less flex on the blocks of treads is an advantage, but heat cylced rubber is a disadvantage.

If you really want the best from a set of 888's or similar, then buy them and have them shaved down to 2mm of tread, then use them.
TOTALLY different to them being worn out heat damaged rubber at the same depth though.
