Afraid its just horsepower that counts in such a short distance. Saff is best shape as Standard but Escort with wing off is almost as good.
700 can do 200mph at Brunters if everything is perfect but ask Martin how many runs it can takes if it aint. 730 will get you there any less & its a real struggle. You wont do much over 190mph with 600bhp however much torque you have.
Torque aids intial accleration until you start to hit the wall when its just a Power game. If you gain 100metres on intial accleration that gained distance is about 1.2 extra seconds on the throttle at 200mph so maybe 1 mph difference.
Chip once explained it on here if it takes around 550bhp to push the air out of the way at 190mph then if you have 600bhp you only have 50bhp to acclerate with so the car will die at about 190. A car with 850bhp will have 300bhp to keep acclerating so it charges on past 200mph untill that Power aint enough to battle on.
Dozens on runs at Brunters & ive yet to beat those laws of physics & im afraid your Ford fitted with a Viper engine wont either
