Could well be rings/bore wear, even with good compression, oil control rings usually go first, mine was exactly as the piccie after 200,973 miles on original bores/pistons, but head was reconned, good compressions ace mpg and emissions 0.97 % CO, 137ppm on greys T34 with that mileage.
