Update:

Since having the car back, it hasn't left the garage (apart from when I quickly cleaned it on Saturday from the journey back from Brum). Problem is, I'm now thinking that if the roads are wet on the club night next week, I'll take the Scooby .

Anyone please advise a possible cure for these actions .
