Have recently bought myself a nice one owner low mileage connect, was hoovering it the other day and my hoover has so much suction that it sucked on and broke the gear gaitor

have got a replacement gaitor but I need to know how to remove the gear knob, I want to 'do it yourself' not 'damage it yourself'

help as always much appreciated
