Default Violent shuddering under braking above 60mph

hello people.

when braking both light and heavily at speeds above 60 mph the steering wheel juders violently however no vibration is felt through the brake pedal. normally i would simply diagnose this as warped discs but ive just fitted new brakes and am concerned. admittedly the dics are second hand however they showed little use with a minimal wear lip. its also wierd to me that nothing at all is felt below 60mph even when stomping on the brakes.

is it simpy that the discs are warped and that above 60mph the vibration is close to resonance.

ive just fitted cosworth 2wd front brakes to my standard sierra sapphire. i had to modify the hub by removing 1.5 mm from the mounting lugs and 4 mm from the caliper. this ensured the caliper was centralised over the disc. i then tapped the holes to m12. could something ive done be caulsing the problem.

cheers
