in theory you could transfer the parts, re-id new shell. job done. technically its illegal. the rules are set up to stop ringing by thieves rather than an enthusaist reshelling a car and hence why you can reshell and keep id with certain conditions. from a practical perspective why cause yourself hassle by getting DVLA involved??

be careful when you move the old shell on if thats what you want. the lad definitely cannot reshell into a second hand shell legally without getting a VIC and Q plate. In reality just dont leave yourself any comeback by cutting out stamp in floor and plate off slam panel and anything that could identify it. what the lad does is then his problem.
