I have a couple of those customers too, driving cars that cost new over 150K euro's. We are too expensive they say. So they take it everywhere, where it is cheaper. Of course at some time the engine light goes on and they still keep driving on. Eventually the car becomes undriveable and after spending a lot of money at cheap repair shops, the car comes to us. At that moment the cat's are destroyed, oxygen sensors melted, etc. etc, which could have been avoided. The extra costs are 1400 euro per cat (2 needed), 250 euro per Oxygen sensor (2 or 4 needed) plus labour. Usually the cause is a failing maf-sensor. And once again, we have produced a bill that runs in the thousands, keeping alive the fairy tale we are (too) expensive.
