Its interesting how a couple of peeps on here reckon a "Rebuilt" motor just consists of some pistons and shells
Top of my head, CVH build to STD spec:
Machine work usually required:
Rebore existing block
Bore Honing (cross hatch)
Crank grind / polish
Dynamic Balancing
Decompress pistons
Surface Grind Flywheel
New partsalways fitted
Mahle Pistons and rings.
Performance full cam kit.
Crank & big end bearings.
Thrust washers. (U&L)
Oil Pump.
Water pump.
ARP Big end bolts.
Genuine Gaskets and seals.
Genuine Head Bolts.
Cambelt. (Gates OE).
Cambelt tensioner.
Thermostat and seal.
Dash temp gauge sender
Ford 071 plugs
8 new rocker locknuts
Block to turbo oil pipe
Mineral Oil and OE filter
Labour on top as i have a family to feed the same as you folks

You do, as Daz kindly points out, get a CD with lots of pictures of your engine build in various stages of strip and build.
On top of that lot, which pans out around £2200 all in... you may have to have:
Full Cylinder head overhaul:
Pressure test
8 Valve guides
8 valve seats
8 valves re-cut to seats
Surface skim
Block Reface.
Head reface.
Optional upgrades:
Stage 3 cylinder head
Duralloy vernier timing pulley
Cosworth forged pistons.
Steel H section Connecting rods.
Steel crank.
Alcon 6 paddle clutch.
The list goes on depending on what you want to do and achieve, but the point im making is when someone offers to whip teh sump off on your drive and bang some new shells in, a "Rebuilt" motor is
NOT what you have
