It's not the gearbox.

Clutch ratchets only used to slip in my experience, usually at the lights causing you to have to fight them to a stop or to prevent you from ramming someone if you was still in gear. Good thing about the Transit clutch ratchet is it can be changed in about 10 minutes unlike the car equivelents!
