Steve the way i see stove enamel is different is as follows

the main reason i use it is because you can get al sorts of metallic colours etc
but the process is longer the metal has to be shotblasted and then primered in this weird grity sticky stuff

then the enamel is applied and comes out bling

the imediate difference is it is a lot thinner

with powder coat you can see its thick enamel is not

i asume its also made of different stuff too

every time i get something done i have to buy a litre of paint and that costs me a tenner

the bloke who does it for me is top if a little slow charges me £10 per cam cover size peice
