I've been away with work just lately and my brother has been using my Series 2 turbo. Last week he took it to a local respecatable garage and they replaced the clutch and a new rear crank oil seal gasket. He topped it up with castrol oil and the dipstick was showing full.

To cut a long story short today he has been racing it on a track and obviosly been giving it some when the oil warning light came on. It has still been leaking and there was no oil left in it. Basically he has told me it is making a grating noise when you go to boot it and well as you can imagine is very poorly.

What sort of damage would of been done running out of oil, is it a new engine job and can he hold the garage that corrected the oil problem responsible???

ASAP to my questions would be greatly appreciated.
