Any grooving or drilling is going to help, a lot in the braking dept, as decent pads will.
Personally I'd go with EBC redstuff ceramic, or even yellows I use yellows myself, work perfect from cold absolutely silent, even though I take the anti rattle shim material off the back of the pads with all mine, never a squeak.
I have brand new DS2500 pads with my 6 pots I just bought, were part of the deal, just ordered yellowstuff to replace them, as I like them loads better.
Best find a pad that you like, as everyone likes a different thing hate Ds and thier lack of feel, wheras EBC you can feel everything that's happening, my last set of yellows are 25,000 mile and still shed loads of meat on my std 4 pots, same discs as well.
