if you are after a shine you will need to make sure you use solid colour and not just base coat as base coat needs laquer as its the laquer that gives the shine
i personally would use base and laquer as it will give a longer lasting paint job that wont go dull in sunlight over time (like pink/orange sorry red rs turbos lol) plus its a lot easier to polish as well just make sure you use 2 pack laquer as any other takes shit loads of compound and buffing to get even the slightest shine!
