i have recently bought a F reg xr3i , on the way back from the MOT station the gearbox developed a severe oil leak from the diff bearing on the passenger side and this caused difficulty selecting gears as u could imagine, any way to cut a long story short i poped to a local scrap yard who suplied me a second hand box , having half striped the car i have noticed a few differences in the boxes , mine has the belt driven ABS system , but the box i have bought has like output cups comeing from the diff whereas mine had the shaft going actually in the box , having checked google it seems that its from a 1.8 diesel escort, the code on the replacement box is :96T 7F096 EA its difinately a cradle type box but unsure weather its gona fit and work corectly with my existing shafts which seem totally different. any help is much apriciated
