OLd thread but any replies I still get via email. Are you getting poor starting problems and/or serious diesel knock when it does start??? What I did in the end was take the electronic pump off the TDi lump and replace it with a fully mechanical version off of a 1994 Mondeo TDi. This goes straight on and there is no electronic gubbins or ECU to worry about. The problem with the pump you have at the moment is, is the fuel injection advance through the rev range is electronically controlled via the ECU and the various sensors on the engine. If your engine has the 'injector pulse sensor' and 'crank sensor' you will need to retrofit the ECU off the vehicle you took the engine out of. A lot of work, so I would advise getting an older pump off of an earlier Escort TDi or Mondeo - then have it tested/reconditioned and fitted. Hope this helps!!
