NOT ME OR MY VAN, ASKING FOR A MATE....

A mate of mine has got a van that he is selling, he owns it out right so when he sells it will he have to add the VAT???

IE- if its up for 6k......does he have to say 6k + VAT

OR

As he owns it outright can he sell it for 6k cash so to speak.

He has his own company but is NOT vat registered and he has not ran the van through the books..........I dont know why not?
