Do you have a front strut brace ?, if so use this to take the weight of the engine with chains/straps etc, then just lower the subframe enough to allow clearance for the sump.
If the "leak" is on the nearside of the sump, have a REALLY good look at the oil pressure switch, as when these leak the oil shoots upwards all over the block, then drips down past the sump, and is easily mistaken for a leaking sump gasket.
The leak is from the switch itself not the threads, leaks between the plastic part and the outer metal part.
