Ringing is just hiding the true identity of a shell with another id, simple as that.

I agree its worth the sum of the parts maybe, and obviously fine for a track car, but all it would take is a nosey MOT man with a bit of knowledge and it could ( not would ) get reported/seized/crushed etc. Is it worth the risk when theres plenty of others similar?
