I've had mine (95 Avant) for eight years now and it's got 200k on the clock.

They are almost bullet proof. Early six speed boxes had a weak 1st gear but the later ones (ABY engined ones) are fine. I’ve only done a few proper launches when doing a Sprint, 5½K and no wheel spin, and it was quicker than my proper sprint/hillclimb escort.

Due to the low final drive they are much quicker than a cossie with the same BHP, but can still do 150 mph.

Unfortunately they send most of their torque to the front wheels and as the weight of the engine is very far forward it can make the handle seem poor but it can when driven properly carry a lot of speed through the corners.

Oh and the "Ashes to Ashes" Quattro had the front wheel drive disconnected to get the tail out for the cameras, so don't expect to drive it like that without some serious power

Spark plugs can come loose so need to be checked every so often 6-8 months

Mine is in standard tune but 300-340 is easy achievable with just a chip etc.

Front brakes are poor and if you drive it quickly will need bigger ones to cope, I’ve got 322mm Porsche discs and calipers with performance friction PF01 pads and stops very well.

Dampers and ARB are best upgraded to RS2 items

Some of the owners do tend to think that they are worth a lot of cash, but they are getting on a bit now so I would shop around. Even though there were only 320 Avants imported over five years I would think mine is only worth around 1500-2200. not sure how many coupe were brought in

I hope this helps
