It can vary enormously, original engines esp 2wd are likely to use more when ragged, there are NO seals as such in the turbo, so oil naturally goes past this point under the right conditions, the breather system is a joke.
My new bore uses 9.1:1 pistons with 1 1/2" clearance, I had piston slap so bad I needed to turn the stereo up, even when fully warm, still ace mpg and emissions though(head was done).
Before it's 200,937 mile rebuild it could "drink" a litre in 30 miles!!, most was left deposited on me mates work units floor though!!
The oil control rings were seriously shagged, comp ring not far behind it.
