The Renault Clio 172 was about before the Renault Clio 172 Cup.

It is a 2.0L Clio that pumps out 172 BHP!! Clever eh!!!

The Cup version loses all the extras and becomes lighter, cheaper and quicker.

I have driven a 172 (Not the Cup version) there was 4 of us in the car and the clock was showing 140+ MPH and was still pulling, what the actual speed of the car was at that time is anyone's guess, probably around 120MPH!

Your mate definitely could've seen 150MPH on the speedo of his 172, but I very much doubt his car could actually manage to do a TRUE 150MPH.
