I had my old NORMAL lsd gearbox rebuilt using the existing gears but new final drive with uprated bearings for £140. To me this is the normal price, there isnt anything special you can do to these boxes so if its cts or an old pentioner in his shed who rebuilds it, if its done correct then that is all that counts, the correct parts put together in the correct way.
Like I said I would recommend a local gearbox shop as these are the people who rebuild gearboxes for everyday family/normal road going cars so reliability is even more of an issue to them than it is to the customer.
If you need some numbers I can give you some for a few trick people round my way (north wales/wrexham/chester) ranging from run of the mill RELIABLE gearbox shops to full ex wrc technicians.
If it was a specialist gearbox like a straight cut dog etc then I would say take it to a specialist but this box is the same as any other old ford bar the diff which still makes no difference to installation.
Sorry for the long post :-(
