I don't unbolt the column, the triangular rod that goes from the inside of the column to through the bulkhead is not fixed, this can be slid up the column inside till it clears the hole, then put bush back in bulkhead hole, slide triangular rod back out and extend down through the hole, they're not tight as only held in with a triangular plastic clip, it's so they can move up in the event of a front end crash, and effectively shorten the column length so it doesn't go through your chest!!
Don't forget to push the spring clip on the triangular rod down all the way to hold the new bush inner in place, otherwise it will move upwards and pop out of the hole!!
