No they are not interchangeable unfortunately, the metal camcover engine you have is quite different to the plastic camcover version.

Your best bet is to keep an eye out on ebay/forums (you will most likely find your engine refered to as a 'phase one', and the same engine was fitted in focus/fiesta/puma of the same era)
