Evening folks, long time no speak
A chap at work said to me, his wifes golf is dead, it has a blown turbo and he is going to scrap it.
I said I would look at it and make him a realistic offer, so thats what I did.
I spoke to the garage it was at, and basically the problem of the description was as follows:
"The turbo oil seal has gone, its flooded the intercooler and made its way into the head. Its probably got bent rods, also the exhaust will need changing. Its seized as well, cant turn the engine over by hand."
The car is poorly.
So, I offered said colleague a low price for it and he accepted! So its now on my drive sitting on my 18's, ready for work. (going to sell the other Golf I have when this is functional).
So, what would be the best course of action?
a) Get another engine of same code and replace, inc turbo.
b) Try and get this fixed, knowing there may be possible bottom end damage and future problems?
Its a shame and the reason I bought it is that its immaculate, FSH, not many owners, had a fortune spent on the upkeep etc etc, plus its 5 years newer than my current one.
Here is the poorly girl ...
So, can I have some suggestions if poss about sorting this mess out.
